Powering Mines is the Pre-Conference day of Zimbabwe Mining Week, delivered in co-location with the C&I Energy & Storage Summit Zimbabwe.

It brings the mining sector’s power requirements into direct focus, ahead of the main conference, for the operators, utilities, regulators, financiers and developers responsible for keeping mines and plants running. 

The co-location reflects a straightforward reality: mining growth in Zimbabwe depends on power availability.

Combine solar PV, BESS, thermal generation and the grid to deliver reliable 24/7 power. Work through storage sizing, power quality, payback periods and O&M strategies using practical case studies and exercises – and challenge the assumption that solar has no place on a mine.

What makes a mining power project bankable? Examine PPAs, payment security, FX risk, guarantees, wheeling and risk allocation – the considerations that decide whether a project reaches financial close.
