Oscar van Antwerpen

Oscar van Antwerpen is the founder and CEO of MINROM, a South Africa-headquartered geological and
mining consultancy supporting projects from early-stage exploration through resource development
and optimised mine planning. A geologist and mineral resource management specialist with more
than 30 years of experience, Oscar has worked across the mining value chain and brings a practical
understanding of how sound geological interpretation, resource modelling and technical decisionmaking can improve project value.
He holds an MSc in geology, a graduate diploma in mining engineering and an MPhil in environmental
management. Earlier in his career, he held key roles with Gold Fields of South Africa and BHP Billiton,
building experience in mine geology, manganese and mineral resource management. He is a
registered professional natural scientist with SACNASP and a Fellow of the Geological Society of South
Africa. He is also recognised as a competent person for manganese resource declarations.
As CEO of MINROM, Oscar leads work across Africa and other mining jurisdictions, with particular
experience in iron, manganese, gold and graphite. MINROM’s work spans mineral exploration, threedimensional geological and geometallurgical modelling, mining engineering and resource
optimisation, helping clients strengthen the technical basis of projects and identify opportunities that
may be overlooked through conventional approaches.
Oscar’s current focus includes the role of geometallurgy, advanced modelling and data-led geological
analysis in building technically credible, investment-ready mining projects. He is especially interested
in how African mining areas can turn their geological potential into lasting value by improving resource
understanding, following careful project development, and working together throughout the mining
process.
